California Newspapers Agree – VOTE NO On Prop 33

You can tell a lot about a proposition by what California newspapers say about it.  So what does it say when the liberal San Francisco Chronicle and the conservative San Diego Union-Tribune both say No on Prop 33?  It says that Prop 33 isn’t a Partisan issue, it’s a California Issue!

PROTECT THE RIGHT TO VOTE! STAND UP TO THOSE WHO WOULD TAKE IT AWAY!

Dear Friends, people of morality and faith,

This may be the most important advice we’ve recommended about our rights and elections.

You have been present for the renewal of the Voting Rights Act and for every civil rights action we have recommended, but in this election we face a grave challenge, unfortunately from our fellow citizens.

“True the Vote” is, under the guise of “protecting” our election system from a fraud that has proven not to exist, sending thousands of people across the country to train on how to challenge voters on election day and intimidate them into not voting.

We cannot let this happen!

Until recently many states thought this was regional, that this could not happen in their state. We have recently learned that states such as California are a much a target as the others about which we have read.

PLEASE make note of this web site: www.866ourvote.org  You my click on your state to see what is happening. The web site is also a phone number: 1-866-OUR-VOTE or
1-866-687-8683

THE TARGETED POPULATIONS ARE COMMUNITIES WITH IMMIGRANTS, STUDENTS, AND PEOPLE OF COLOR. BUT ANY OF US CAN BECOME THEIR TARGETS AS WELL.

It is critical that we not let anyone – especially not those once victims of massive discrimination —be frightened or intimidated into NOT voting!

Please volunteer via www.866ourvote.org for training to be involved in watching for and stopping voter intimidation. If you see ANYTHING during early voting or election day that smacks of intimidation or coercion, PLEASE call 1-866-OUR-VOTE or 1-866-687-8683 and report what you have seen.

Across the nation FBI and other officials are standing by at polling places that have had previous difficulties. But they cannot be everywhere. YOU are the person who can protect your own vote and that of others.

Please do NOT ignore this peril. We have nothing to protect our voting rights other than you and your actions.

Thank you.
